New Mexico Guided Healing is a Rio Rancho, New Mexico therapy practice founded by Cate Kamal-Aldeen, LCSW. Our two therapists provide compassionate, strengths-based, person-centered individual therapy in a welcoming space free from shame or judgment—where you can focus on yourself, your healing, and your growth. We build on what's already working in your life, blend practical problem-solving with room to process past experiences, and honor your pace. Whether you're navigating trauma, anxiety, depression, a life transition, or the demands of daily life, we’re here to support you.
I’m so glad you’re here. For more than a decade, I’ve supported individuals through some of life’s most difficult experiences, including trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, infertility, and major life transitions. As a therapist serving Rio Rancho and clients throughout New Mexico, I believe every person has inherent strengths and resilience. My role is to help you recognize those strengths, build on them, and develop practical tools for creating meaningful change. I believe therapy works best when you feel safe, respected, and accepted. Within our therapeutic relationship, you can focus on yourself, your healing, and your growth.
My approach to individual therapy is strengths-based, collaborative, and personalized to your needs. Whether you’re processing painful past experiences, struggling with anxiety or depression, navigating grief or a major life transition, or facing the emotional challenges of infertility, pregnancy, or postpartum life, we’ll work together to understand what you’re experiencing and identify a path forward.
We build on the strengths and resources you already have while developing practical coping skills and strategies to help you navigate current challenges. When appropriate, we can also address past trauma through EMDR therapy, explore patterns that may be affecting your thoughts, emotions, and relationships, and develop healthier ways of coping.
You don’t have to navigate difficult experiences alone. Therapy can provide a supportive space to process your experiences, strengthen your coping skills, reconnect with your resilience, and improve your emotional well-being. Our work together is guided by your goals and needs, with an emphasis on meaningful progress at a pace that feels right for you.
I understand that choosing a therapist can feel daunting. There’s vulnerability in reaching out, along with uncertainty about whether therapy will help or whether you’ll find the right fit. I invite you to schedule a complimentary 15-minute therapy consultation with Marisa or with me. We look forward to learning about what you’re looking for, answering your questions, and helping you determine which therapist and approach may be the best fit for your needs.
You deserve support that honors your experiences, recognizes your strengths, and meets you where you are.

Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
I hold a master’s in special education with a concentration in applied behavior analysis and began my career in the behavioral health field eight years ago.
Much of my early career focused on supporting children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and partnering with parents to create enriched, supportive learning environments for their children. As my passion grew for helping individuals develop effective coping tools and navigate life’s challenges, I went back to school and earned a second master’s degree in social work.
In my work with clients, I prioritize authenticity, collaboration, and a client-centered approach. I draw on evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, and mindfulness techniques, to help clients identify barriers, recognize strengths, and explore the internal and external supports that can promote well-being.
I believe every person has strengths that may not yet be fully recognized or understood. My goal is to create a safe, genuine, and supportive space where clients can look inward, gain insight, build on their strengths, and develop tools to move toward meaningful change.
